Video & Screenshots

Some early screenshots and video of my game Galaxial that is in development. Its still in a rough unfinished state but should give you a general idea of what the game is going to look and play like.

The video is more a tech demo than actual typical gameplay that I have planned as all the ships are just fitted with missiles and beam lasers (damage) with no support ships providing repairs or electronic warfare which I'm planning to add soon. Once those are included the battles will become much more tactical.

The buttons and interface along the bottom of the screen are used for the ship the player is manually controlling at the time. You can instantly jump in and out of any ship you own to affect the outcome of battles or for exploring.

Each circle represents a star system that contains planets. All systems are linked by stargates (the white lines display the routes)

Planets are claimed when a colony is built on its surface. Currently there are four types of facility (more may be added) that can be built at a colony with space for six in total per colony. Building multiple facilities of the same type increase their efficiency so its better to specialise each colony according to its planet bonus.

The role of a ship is determined by the type of modules it has fitted. Modules are split into three main catagories:
  • Targeted - Requires a targeted object. (weapons, electronic warfare, friendly supporting)
  • Active - Requires energy when activated. (afterburners, shield and hull repair)
  • Passive - Always active and dont require energy. (energy regeneration, various ship enhancing)
Each ship design has a maximum number of available module slots of each type that can be fitted.

More info coming soon!

  1. Wow, this looks awesome! Loving the pre-alpha gameplay video, looks like it'd be really fun with a multiplayer mode and I reckon it'd work quite well.

I'd also like to throw in my support for an OS X version too :) Anyway, great work so far, keep it up!

  3. The graphics look clean enough and unless you get into some much more complex menus, it looks like this could fit onto a tablet's screen pretty nicely.

    1. I dont think a tablet version is going to be possible.

  4. There is something quite epic about seeing a huge fleet of ships moving across the screen and this is no where near at 14,200 unit cap that currently exists.

The one thing that concerned me about this alpha video was that the ships flew right below/over the asteroid field. I don't want the battles to take place in a completely empty area there needs to be some obstructions that can be used for tactics.
